Art and music
Promoting justice and equality
Collecting and Distributing Aid
Family support

MAK formed in Manchester at the height of the ethnic cleansing programme in the Balkans in 1999.

MAK's initial work was crisis aid, collecting and taking 1,000 tonnes of aid to the region in 1999/2000. MAK also responsed to the medical evacuation of Kosovars to the UK. The British Army evacuated five cousins, who survived the massacre of their family in Podujevë, Kosovo, for treatment in the UK. They asked MAK to create the Manchester Peace Park in their home town in NE Kosovo. The Peace Park is now nearing completion.

Much of MAK's work develops and resources this region focussing on education, recreation and the arts. The charity is very active with a wide range of projects to fund.

MAK is a small charity run by volunteers.

MAK's partners are:
The Eden Project
Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Castle Fine Arts Foundry Ltd
The Municipality of Podujevë

We also work closely with Manchester musicians, the Imperial War Museum North and Great Run (Nova International).
