The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust

The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust provides a free home security service for particularly vulnerable people in Wiltshire and Swindon. The Trust helps those who are most at risk of being burgled, taken advantage of by doorstep thieves, or have been a target of house crime, domestic abuse or hate crime, who need prompt, practical and supportive assistance.

We have three operators - trained carpenters and Home Office trained crime reduction officers - who drive highly-equipped transit vans and carry out security and fire risk assessments on clients' homes, before fitting suitable devices to prevent repeat burglaries or attempts to gain unauthorised entry. Anyone who is physically or mentally unable to take the necessary steps to secure their homes against unwanted intruders, is considered for our service, for which there is no charge, including all equipment and fittings.

The Trust works with district councils operating the Sanctuary Scheme to install 'safe rooms' in the homes of domestic abuse victims who live in fear of reprisals from aggressive ex-partners or family members.
