The Ark Foundation
The Ark Foundation
The Charity focuses on educating young people on alcohol and drug misuse.
We encourage behavioural change and warn of the damage that binge drinking and recreational drug use can inflict.
We provide alcohol and drug awareness education to catering students aged 16+ to hilite the dangers of drinking excessively and mis-using recreational drugs.
Our audience of trainee chefs is young vulnerable and impressionable. Our talk is specifically aimed at youngsters about to enter the hospitality industry which is one of the country's largest employers. The hospitality industry demands stressful working conditions with high intensity and anti-social hours. Employees often look to alcohol and drugs as a form of release and this can lead to dependency. The Ark Foundation provides an experience-lead approach by using chefs who are in recovery from alcoholism and addictions who's unique life stories of downfall and recovery are a deterrant to those embarking on this chosen career.
The seminars promote a responsible attitude to alcohol and demonstrates how the body and brain processes alcoholic units. We explain how to deal with peer pressure and we promote alcohol in moderation. We encourage our audience to become more socially aware of their behaviour and lifestyles.
The Ark Foundation aims to:
- To educate about the dangers of alcohol and drug misuse and encourage behavioural change to prevent addictions from taking hold.
- To give advice through personal testimony and experience of how alcohol and drugs can destroy lives and to dis-spell the glamour surrounding drug mis-use and alcohol abuse which is prevalent in the hospitality industry.
- To help combat society’s binge drinking tendency and to inform of its effects on the mind and body of the young vulnerable members our future workforce.
