Hardman Trust

Through the provision of awards we enable long term prisoners to be better prepared to re-enter society. We are about awards in recognition of extraordinary effort made in personal rehabilitation. We do not make grants and the grounds for an award must be evidenced.

Twice yearly award ceremonies are held in one of H. M. Prisons. All the fieldwork of the trust is conducted by volunteer trustees and assessors and every applicant is personally visited. Over eight hundred men and women have been awarded. Awardees undertake to keep in touch with the trust after release. To date we are not aware of any returning to prison. Our personal touch and ongoing pastoral support is greatly appreciated by prisoners several of whom now serve on the trust's board. We also produce annually the Prisoners' Funder Directory three copies of which are sent to every prison library. The Directory is generally considered the finest of its type and has been of great help to hundreds of prisoners.
