Tarbat Historic Trust is the body responsible for the Tarbat Discovery Centre - a Pictish & Local Heritage Museum housed in the Old Parish Church the Crypt of which is over 1000 years old.

    To advance and promote the education of the general public and to encourage interest in and advance knowledge of Scotland’s Past by operating, in the Highlands of Scotland, a centre for the collection, documentation, exhibition and interpretation of artefacts, objects and specimens and generally any articles and information and evidence concerning the history of Scotland and by the promotion of Archaeological excavation and interpretation.

    Tarbat Historic Trust aims to:

    • To ensure that the museum achieves and maintains sustainability.
    • To create and maintain innovative and imaginative exhibition displays of the highest quality.
    • To provide a high quality education and exhibition function that will enhance the historical importance of the site.
    • To attract additional visitors to Easter Ross and benefit the people of Portmahomack and the surrounding area.
