Charity information

The Greatwood Charity based in Marlborough, Wiltshire has two charitable objectives:

1. The rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of sick, neglected, injured or retired former racehorses. The ultimate aim being to rehome as many as possible with carers after a period of rehabilitation. Those horses unsuitable for rehoming are given a home for life in our sanctuary and are assessed for use in our Horse Power programme.

2. The provision of innovative and unique programmes of education for children and young people with special educational needs via their interaction with animals and horses. Our Horse Power programme focuses on children from 3-19 and teaches emotional literacy. Our Down to Earth programme focuses on the environment, flora and fauna. Older children can achieve an NVQ qualification.
