We are dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and to offer caring support to the 3 million people in the UK who are estimated to have the disease.

  • Mission statement

    Our mission is:
    - to improve public awareness and understanding of osteoporosis
    - to influence health and social care provision to achieve excellence in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis to prevent fragility fractures
    - to provide caring support and information to enable people affected by osteoporosis to make a positive difference to their lives.

    Our vision is a future without fragility fractures and we will do everything in our power to make this vision a reality.

  • Aims

    National Osteoporosis Society aims to:

    • Increase awareness of osteoporosis and educating people how to minimise their risk through awareness campaigns, press and PR and online.
    • Provide frontline services to support and inform people affected by osteoporosis. This includes our expert, nurse-led, helpline, regional support groups and comprehensive publications suite.
    • Fund medical research into the prevention, causes and treatment of osteoporosis in order to reduce the number of people affected by the disease.
    • Influence Government and the NHS at the highest levels to ensure that people with osteoporosis are identified, diagnosed and treated as early as possible and receive the best care.
