AVID is the national network for volunteer visitors to immigration detainees across the UK. We support 20 grassroots groups who give their time to support this isolated and disadvantaged group.

    AVID believes that those held in immigration detention are entitled to the same human rights as everyone else. We work with and through our membership to make this a reality.

  • Aims

    AVID (Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees) aims to:

    • To improve the welfare and wellbeing of all those detained under immigration act powers in the UK
    • To strengthen and support our network of 20 volunteer visitors groups, representing over 600 volunteers
    • To push for positive changes in the detention system nationally
    • To provide accurate, reliable information on immigration detention to raise awareness of the realities of detention in the UK
