Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. Our vision is a world without dementia.

Founded 1979

  • Mission statement

Dementia is one of the biggest health and social care challenges we face today, and it is one that we as a society cannot afford to ignore any longer.

1 in 3 people over the age of 65 will die with some form of dementia and as the population ages increasing numbers of us are being affected. By 2021 there will be more than a million people living with dementia in the UK, not to mention the families and carers who will also be affected.

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. We exist to champion the rights of everyone with dementia and those who care for them. We provide information and support to people with all forms of dementia and their carers and support health and social care professionals by delivering high quality education, resources and training. Working nationally and locally, we campaign for improved care and greater public awareness and understanding of dementia. We also fund innovative research in the areas of cause, cure, care and prevention.

There are currently 800,000 people in the UK living with dementia. Dementia can happen to anyone and there is currently no cure. But with the right support, people can live well with dementia.
