World Heart Beat Music Academy

World Heart Beat Music Academy provides high-quality music tuition and exciting personal development to children and young people living in Wandsworth and surrounds. Every week we welcome 300 students to our academy, at least 70% of whom come from challenging backgrounds and receive a subsidy to attend (50% cost free! ). We make music accessible to everyone regardless of their social or economic background, teaching skills that enable students to raise their aspirations and develop viable careers

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

World Heart Beat Music Academy envisions a global environment where music – as a universal form of communication – bridges cultural, political, social, economic and linguistic barriers.

In pursuit of our dream, we will extend ‘the art of the possible’ to thousands of young people from all backgrounds through the medium of music. “We are truly unlimited if only we dare to try” (Sri Chinmoy).

We will celebrate every young person’s potential for lifelong achievement in the field of music and beyond. We will create a realm of opportunities for children and young adults who would not normally have the chance to learn and play music, inspiring those with passion but not the means. We will connect young people to the power of music and provide roots where they can go on to have fully rewarding and successful careers in all forms of the music industry not just playing an instrument.

We believe that, through this vision, World Heart Beat will contribute enormously to:
    1. The transformational impact on society and on individuals through music.
    2. Music’s capacity to act as a socio-economic force.
    3. Fulfilling opportunities in the huge variety of jobs offered in the music industry

  • Aims

World Heart Beat Music Academy aims to:

    • To strengthen our reputation as a centre for musical excellence as we double our student in-take and engage hundreds more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in bespoke music tuition
    • To significantly enrich London’s cultural offer by delivering 150+ concerts/ year, featuring eminent international musicians, which are accessible to many whom would normally feel excluded
    • To attract musicians from around the world who will deliver outreach workshops to local schools, children's centres and the wider community
    • To improve our facilities to support talented young musicians to record and launch their first albums, draw-in industry mentors and acquire the skills needed to become the music leaders of the future
