The Cater Museum

He purpose of the museum is to maintain a base for the exhibition of local objects for the benefit and use of the inhabitants of and visitors to Billericay and the surrounding area. The museum's aim is to foster within the community an appreciation and understanding of local history and the town's heritage. We are the only museum in a town brimming with fascinating history!

    To collect, preserve, display and store, and interpret objects important to the history of Billericay and its people. To protect and preserve 74 High Street for future generations. To educate and provide an enjoyable experience for all users and to encourage a sense of pride within the Billericay community.

    • Greater community involvement and improved user experience
    • Improvements to policies, procedures and the workspace for the benefit of existing staff and volunteers
