Home-Start Wandsworth Limited

Home-Start Wandsworth works with vulnerable local families who have children under 5, or are pregnant, and are struggling to cope in very difficult circumstances, including disability, illness, bereavement, poverty and isolation.

We recruit and train volunteers who visit families at home each week and provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and friendship, helping to build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.

Founded 2007

  • Mission statement

At Home-Start Wandsworth we believe that every family matters and that all children deserve the best possible start in life. Research clearly shows that pregnancy and the first 5 years of a child’s life can have a huge influence on a child’s development and that a stable, loving family environment helps set the foundations for a positive and healthy future. Our mission is to support families in the London Borough of Wandsworth who are struggling to cope in those early years and are facing difficulties over and above the usual challenges involved in raising children under 5. We work alongside parents in and outside the home, offering non-judgemental, informal help and friendship, in a way that changes lives, helping empower parents to cope better and to give their children the best possible start in life.
