Founded 2004

  • Mission statement

"Learning to Live and Living to Learn"

Teso Educational Support Services (TESS) was set up in 2004 at the request of church leaders in Teso, north eastern Uganda. They saw that the education of bright children, especially girls, was the key to the long-term development and the future hope of Teso.

TESS has now sponsored over 300 students from Teso through post-primary education. Many are now in university or are undertaking vocational courses which they will then use to support themselves, their families and Teso as a whole. Some have now qualified and are working, in turn supporting others through education. TESS supports the students in their medical care, tuition fees and with micro-finance initiatives so that they can begin earning money immediately to provide food and resources for their families.

TESS also supports training initiatives for students and teachers.

TESS is now supporting the building of Shalom International School for Life-Long Learning for the people of Teso, an ambitious vision to provide relevant holistic education which will enable transformation in Teso and beyond.
