Big Help Project

The Big Help Project (Knowsley Foodbank) is a local charity with two clear aims: to feed the hungry in Knowsley, and to work with people who are in poverty to help them overcome that poverty and move on to a better future. We have worked with hundreds of clients-some of these clients have come to us with just once, with a one-off crisis, whilst others engage with us long-term, accessing support from our additional services such as Jubilee Debt Advice or Next Steps employability support.

Founded 2011

  • Mission statement

The Big Help Project draws inspiration from the words of Nelson Mandela:

“Overcoming poverty is not an act of charity, it is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome by the actions of human beings. ”

  • Aims

    Big Help Project aims to:

    • Treat people with dignity and respect, not doing things for people, but rather empowering them to take control of their own lives
    • Accept and value people for who they are and without passing judgement on their circumstances, lifestyle or beliefs
    • Operate in God's strength and with his resources, understanding that true, life changing transformation is always more than just changes in physical circumstances
    • Work with others to help alleviate poverty in the borough of Knowsley and in the surrounding areas
