Home-Start East Surrey
Home-Start East Surrey
Home-Start East Surrey (HSES) is the only voluntary organisation that provides home visiting support to struggling families with young children in Redhill, Reigate, Horley, Tandridge, Dorking and other parts of East Surrey. We provide regular support, friendship and practical help to families who are struggling to cope with difficulties such as disability, mental health, multiple births, isolation and bereavement.
Home-Start East Surrey (HSES) is a local charity which provides regular support, friendship and practical help for families with young children who are struggling to cope. This may be for a variety of reasons; e. G. Disability, bereavement, multiple births and isolation.
This service is provided for families living in the East Surrey area; including, Redhill, Reigate, Horley, Tandridge and Dorking.
Our volunteers visit families weekly and work alongside parents, in their own homes, to help them cope with the difficulties they are facing. Home-Start works because our trained volunteers are parents and they understand how hard it can be to bring up young children.
There are over 300 Home-Start schemes across the UK offering help to more than 32,000 families every year.
Being a parent, whatever your situation, can be very challenging, especially when children are young. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life. For some parents it’s a particular struggle because they are also coping with issues such as post-natal depression, their or their child’s illness or disability, isolation or multiple births.
In addition to visiting struggling families in their homes, we have recently started a Nuturing Group in Reigate where we provide a weekly drop-in centre for mothers and infants suffering from post-natal depression. A second such group is planned for Oxted later this year.
Home-Start East Surrey aims to:
- We aim to provide well trained and vetted volunteers to assist local families with young children who are struggling to cope with difficulties such as disability, mental health and multiple births.
- We aim to provide drop-in centres in Reigate and Oxted where trained staff and volunteers can provide help and support for mothers and infants who are suffering from post-natal depression.
