We are a feminist charity which aims to bring together specialist lawyers, academics and other experts in the field of violence against women, with those working on the frontline as activists, survivors and service providers to bring strategic law challenges and ensure access to justice for victims of male violence.

  • Mission statement

    The Centre for Women’s Justice (CWJ) aims to advance the human rights of women and girls in England and Wales by
    - holding the state to account for failures in the prevention of violence against women and girls and
    - challenging discrimination against women within the criminal justice system


    Our specific objectives are:

    1. To undertake strategic litigation and facilitate legal assistance in cases concerning male violence against women and girls (VAWG)
    2. To create a network of and the potential for collaborative working between women’s groups, activists, survivors, lawyers, academics and other experts in the field of VAWG committed to CWJ’s aims
    3. To raise awareness on issues arising from and associated with the case work of the organisation and to be a focal point for the media on such issues
    4. To monitor and challenge trends in policy, practice and the law which impacts on VAWG.
