Charity information

UK Sailing Academy

UKSA is a registered charity which believes in the power of the sea to make a positive change. We offer young people of all ages and all abilities a fun, safe outdoor environment in which to learn important life skills and to excel.

Founded 1988

  • Mission statement

We are a charity that is widening access to maritime training and life-skills programmes. UKSA’s work has never been more relevant or important. Nationally young people’s wellbeing is at its lowest level in nearly a decade. Young people are struggling to cope at school or work, lack self-confidence and don’t believe they can change their circumstances. Our activities directly address this in two ways: Sea. Change. We deliver engaging programmes focussed on improving young people’s life-skills, like coping, confidence, communication and teamwork. We work with children from as young as six, to vulnerable young people under 25 who are not in employment, education or training. Sea. Careers. We are the world’s largest provider of marine training, ranging from watersports instructor, through to training officers working on vessels up to 3,000 gross tonnes. Self-funding students train alongside those getting financial help from UKSA partners and donors. UKSA’s training environment is like no other. Students of all backgrounds train together, creating a dynamic atmosphere and level playing-field.
