The PANDAS Foundation is here to help support and advise any parent who is experiencing a perinatal mental illness. We are also here to inform and guide family members, carers, friends and employers as to how they can support someone who is suffering.
PANDAS survives thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteer team. Support is provided through many platforms: a telephone helpline, email and online support and local support groups.
‘To be the UK’s most recognised and trusted support service for families suffering prenatal/antenatal and postnatal illnesses. ’
Our aim is to make sure that no individual, family or carer feels as if they are alone. We have a variety of support services available to ensure that help is delivered in a way to suit you. No one suffering any form of mental illness should feel they are on their own.
Our Volunteers say:
“I volunteer to help break the stigma of perinatal mental health and support those who need it most”
“I really believe that when you speak to people who understand, you’ve taken the first step to recovery”
“I want to give help and support to people who are on a difficult journey. To reassure them that they are not alone. ”
Peri-Natal mental health support is lacking in provision throughout the UK and PANDAS Foundation was set up to bridge the gap and provide support to those in need wherever they may be.
Access can be sought from our telephone helpline, email and online support whenever it is needed. Breaking down feelings of isolation and helpline those in need to seek medical attention when needed.
Our local support groups provide an opportunity for individuals to meet face to face with others in a similar situation and gain peer to peer support on a local basis.
We have prevented many instances of maternal suicide and have helped over 30,000 individuals in need since the charity was founded in 2011.
Pandas Foundation aims to:
- To provide peer to peer support to individuals and their families in need of peri natal mental health support.
- To break down the stigma surrounding peri natal mental health.
- To provide a link between NHS provision and those in need of support and ensure there is always help available where needed.
