Checkpoint Advice & Support

Checkpoint is a welfare advice service delivered close to the point of need from well used, easily accessible venues. We provide our clients with the information they need to understand their legal rights and responsibilities, and also give practical support by filling out forms, making telephone calls, writing letters, etc.

  • Mission statement

    To promote social inclusion and the relief of financial hardship for the
    public benefit among people who are socially excluded as a result of
    being a member of a socially and economically deprived community
    within Leicester City or Leicestershire in particular but not exclusively by
    the provision of free legal advice, advocacy, education and other
    support.

  • Aims

    Checkpoint Advice & Support aims to:

    • Deliver free, independent, quality assured advice and advocacy in welfare benefits, debt, housing, and community care law to disadvantaged communities
    • Provide a holistic service for clients with complex needs who may be at risk of homelessness and/or loss of essential services
    • Work in partnership with local statutory and voluntary sector agencies to highlight the needs of deprived communities, influence decision making, and promote social inclusion
