Brent Centre for Young People

Charity information
Brent Centre for Young People
We are an internationally renowned and respected Centre which works with vulnerable young people with mental health and emotional difficulties to achieve profound and lasting changes. In 1967 Dr Moses Laufer, a leading professional in the field of adolescent mental health, founded the Brent Adolescent Centre. It was Dr Laufer’s expert opinion that the causes and symptoms of mental health problems in young people were unique and distinct from those experienced at other times in peoples’ lives. It was also his conviction that if these problems could be addressed successfully in adolescence it would prevent further breakdown in adult life. It was therefore essential to create an institution that recognised these distinctions and offered an approach that addressed those specific needs. It is this vision that has led to our success. 42 years on the Brent Centre for Young People has helped thousands of young people to save, rebuild and reform their lives.
