  • Mission statement

    The Advancement of Animal Welfare

    Purpose – outcomes/how/who/where

    Our Mission is:

    • To rescue and to provide sanctuary to Westies in the UK that have been abandoned, lost, neglected, mistreated or are no longer able to remain with their previous owners.

    • To find suitable homes for these dogs either through adoption or long term fostering.

    • To maintain contact with adopters to ensure the continued care of these dogs and to find new homes for any Westies that are unable to remain with their new owners.

    • To never put a healthy dog to sleep.

    How?

WRUK will rescue dogs in danger or need and in the short term, foster them in order to assess their temperament, and health condition. All dogs will be neutered before going to a new home. WRUK operates a non destruction policy for all healthy dogs. The charity will assess the type of home and owners who would be suitable to adopt or to foster them.

A support network of foster carers will ensure that there is a place of safety for the dogs in the first instance. A support network of volunteers will also be established to help with home checks and transportation.

We will seek suitable homes, for example through the WRUK website and Facebook group.

Potential adopters and fosterers are required to complete an application form that will enable a decision to be made about their suitability. All prospective owners/fosterers will be home checked to ensure that the environment is suitable for the rescued dogs.
