Charity information

London Children's Ballet

London Children’s Ballet is a charity and performance company that uses dance to change lives. The charity has a successful 23-year track record of creating popular, original ballet productions for a family audience, giving exceptional training and performance opportunities for free to children from all backgrounds and enabling audiences who are either financially or physically restricted to enjoy ballet performances.

Founded 1994

  • Mission statement

    The LCB mission is four-fold:

    1. To give unique, free performance opportunities to talented young dancers from all backgrounds through a spectacular West-End production;

    2. To give career-shaping commissions to emerging artists, especially composers, choreographers and designers;

    3. To introduce ballet to those who could not otherwise afford it through our Ballet for £1 programme and accompanying school workshops;

    4. To take ballet performances and workshops to the most isolated in society, especially those who find it hard or impossible to attend the theatre due to physical restrictions through LCB Touring Companies. This will expand nationally in 2018 through Ballet in a Box.

    5. Beyond this stated mission, LCB’s ambition to inspire the young people it works with is far broader. Our vision is to open doors to children, give them new horizons through dance, raise the expectations they have for themselves in dance or other areas of their lives and learn the life lesson of reward for commitment and hard work.

  • Aims

    London Children's Ballet aims to:

    • To provide talented young dancers from all backgrounds with exceptional training and performance opportunities completely free of charge.
    • To fill the gap in arts provision for some of the most marginalised and overlooked young people by providing £1 tickets to the ballet and free school dance workshops.
    • To bring ballet performances directly to the most isolated and vulnerable communities in London.
