Darlington Assistance For Refugees

The organisation was established to assist Syrian refugees who were settled in Darlington, commencing in 2106. We were registered as a charity in January 2017.
We now assist both refugees from a number of countries, and a growing number of asylum seekers ion the town, in collaboration with the local Council and other agencies.

  • Mission statement

    1. The promotion of social inclusion for the public benefit among people who are refugees or asylum seekers living in Darlington who are socially excluded on the grounds of their social and economic position, by providing:
    a) education and training in the English language;
    b) volunteer befrienders/mentors who will assist them with their integration into the community of Darlington by the provision of information, advice and support.
    2. The relief of poverty for refugees or asylum seekers by the provision of essential equipment, furniture and other items as may be necessary.
    3 Assistance for refugees towards gaining employment.
