Charity information

Contact provides support and residential accommodation for homeless young women aged 16 to 19, with the aim of preparing them for independent living in the community and has been doing so for over 40 years.

This assistance not only includes the provision of residential accommodation, but also support to help them to re-connect with society and get back into education, employment or training. We also help the young women to come to terms with the past and to build a better future

Founded 1970

  • Mission statement

The ethos of Contact is very simply to provide for each young person "what any good parent would do", offering “more than just a place to stay”. We provide a hostel as a home, which is safe and secure and staffed twenty four hours a day for vulnerable young women aged 16 – 19, in the Manchester area. We also offer support through our experienced support workers, and help to move on to a better and happier future, with 7 residential places in the main house and 1 place in an adjacent independence bungalow, all on the same site. We also provide an informal outreach service for the young women who have moved into more independent accommodation. All placements at Contact are regarded as short term

    • For each young person to develop and realise aspirations by coaching and mentoring in life skills including and in accepting and responding to responsibilities
    • For each young person to achieve resilience and independence having moved on to a secure tenure or semi independent supported accommodation, according to age and needs
