Seacology UK works in solidarity with local island communities to protect endangered ecosystems and cultures of islands throughout the world. Seacology does this by providing sustainable development aid to islanders in exchange for their commitment to preserve land-based or marine natural habitats.
In Wasini Island, Kenya, Seacology helped repair and revitalize water collection and storage tanks in exchange for the protection of 1,236 acres of mangrove forests. In Kavaratti Island, India, Seacology constructed an environmental education center in exchange for the establishment of a 500-acre marine protected area.
The global Seacology network has projects on 109 Islands in 46 countries worldwide.
