Upfront Arts

The promotion of the art forms of mask, mime and pupperty through performance, teaching and exhibitions. To work in an inclusive way to engage everyone in focussed creative activity developing and training people to become competent in the art form
whilst working alongside our professional staff.
To promote our puppet collection, developing an exhibition of puppets from around the world and bringing together an investigation of different creative and religious cultures united by a common theme.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

To become an outstanding performance company engaging a wide cross section of our local community in training and participation. We aim to constantly evaluate our creative position benchmarking it against other companies and performers. In this way we will foster high levels of expectation for achievement from people in the local community who engage with our creative activity and participate in workshops with the company.
To achieve this we will continue to improve the quality of our resident company by inviting criticism from our peers in other similar companies and by attending festivals to perform, both in England and abroad

  • Aims

    Upfront Arts aims to:

    • Performances for people of all ages focussed on the art forms of mask mime and puppetry. The performances will both educate and entertain whilst promoting the art forms and their related cultures.

    • To create a puppet museum and exhibition based on our own collection and others on loan from other collections this will provide an educational resource and contribute to the local tourism offer.
