Farm Inspiration Trust

FarmAbility is an award-winning charity based on a farm in Oxfordshire. We believe that adults with autism and learning disabilities should have access to meaningful activities that improve their well-being and increase their independence, enabling them to participate actively in their communities. Our co-farmers join us up to three times a week and work in small groups to do meaningful activities on a working farm.

Founded 2013

  • Mission statement

FarmAbility is an outdoor, farm-based programme of animal husbandry, horticulture and seasonal tasks for adults with autism and learning disabilities. These are our co-farmers. Working in small groups, supported by enthusiastic staff and volunteers, co-farmers gain a real sense of purpose and achievement, while building the practical and vocational skills they need to move forward in their lives.

Through our day service programme, we support co-farmers to build their confidence, improve their well-being and physical health, and engage in accredited and non-accredited learning programmes. This helps to build a ‘can do’ approach – raising co-farmers’ self-esteem and ultimately their achievement, and all this while having fun too!
