Henry Dancer Days
Henry Dancer Days
We support children (18 and under) with cancer by offering general hardship support to families who include a child with Primary Bone Cancer.
We also run distraction projects in paediatric oncology wards for children with all forms of cancer to relieve stress and boredom and to improve the wellbeing of both children and families.
We also make donations to research into Primary Bone Cancers.
"Supporting children with Cancer"
We do this by providing practical support at a time when it's most needed. Frequently parents have to give up work to care for their children yet still have the same financial outgoings. As a result we have bought replacement washing machines, paid winter gas bills, helped with transport and subsistence in addition to paying for days out or theatre tickets when children need a treat or day out.
Our distraction projects include sending professional storytelling workshop leaders and ceramicists into kids' cancer wards which are scary, stressful and boring places to be. Our workers provide much needed fun by engaging the children in the activities and it gives parents a much needed break - they can pop for a coffee/have a few tears/phone family to update them, knowing that their child is in safe hands and having fun.
Henry Dancer Days aims to:
- Providing workshops for children with cancer in paediatric oncology wards throughout the UK. Offering fun to children and young people in a scary, stressful and boring environment improving wellbeing
- Supporting children with Primary Bone Cancer during times of general hardship: providing what the family needs - whether transport, help with bills, tablets for children to Skype friends of a day out
