ESCAPE Family Support

ESCAPE Family Support was founded in 1995 by Janet Murphy MBE. For more than 2 decades the charity has worked hard to develop services that fill gaps in local provision and add value to the commissioned services. ESCAPE provides services to families and carers of substance users in Northumberland through our Family Support Project; services to substance users through our Recovery Project; accredited and evidence based training and interventions; and volunteering & peer mentoring opportunities.

  • Mission statement

OUR MISSION: Enabling Individuals and Families to Live Healthy Lives, Free From the Impact of Addictions and Risky Behaviours.

OUR GOALS: To provide individuals and families affected or at risk of being affected by addiction and risky lifestyles with a robust pathway into recovery and the resilience and support to sustain the recovery journey.
To provide life changing services and support to individuals, their families and carers whose lives are impacted by drugs, alcohol or other addictions.
To recognise that a holistic approach is essential in addressing the multiple issues and barriers our clients face, we are committed to building the tailored support around critical interventions.

OUR VALUES: The belief that our community base and service user driven development can and will play a crucial role in developing an effective recovery community in Northumberland and beyond.
Recognising the important roles that families and carers play in the recovery journey and their need for support in their own right,
Placing recovery firmly at the heart of everything that we do.
The drive to support the most vulnerable in society; to make their lives better and break cycles of disadvantage.
Striving to improve, innovate and deliver best practice and excellent services.
