The Primrose Hospice Limited

Primrose aims to work as part of the community team to support adults over the age of 18 living at home with cancer and other life-threatening diseases and to offer a high quality, efficient and responsive service appropriate to the needs of an individual whatever the stage of their disease.

Founded 1988

  • Mission statement

As a hospice we provide free, expert care and support to adults living with life limiting illnesses and their families. We endeavour to improve patients’ quality of life and wellbeing, helping each individual live as fully as they can to the end of their lives, however long that may be. It is our belief that every life matters right up until the moment a person dies and that no one should die in pain when it can be avoided, or alone, if they do not want to, regardless of whether their suffering is physical, emotional or spiritual.

The Hospice serves a diverse population of 178,000 people in the districts of Redditch and Bromsgrove in North East Worcestershire and all of our specialist palliative care and family support services are provided free of charge.

  • Aims

The Primrose Hospice Limited aims to:

    • To provide specialised palliative care for patients with progressive, advanced cancer and other diseases from which they will not recover.
    • To ensure patients and their families are involved in decisions concerning their care and treatment, allowing them to make informed choices.
    • To provide emotional support to the patient and individual members of a patient's family, by the provision of trained support workers and counselling.
    • To provide the opportunity for the patient and family to discuss their chosen place of care and eventual place of death, whether at home, in hospital or at a nursing home.
    • To provide information to patients and families ensuring they have full knowledge of all the support services, financial benefits and aids they may require to achieve comfortable living.
