Wigan & Leigh Young Carers

We support young carers/young adult carers in the Wigan borough from the ages of 5 - 24 years.
We provide young carers assessments and from that we offer the following support:
1:1 Befriending (Volunteer) or Support Worker.
Counselling
We have 10 peer support after school groups covering the whole borough, all age related 5-11 years, 12-16 years & 16-24 years.
Training & personal development
One off activities ie visit the Zoo, Blackpool pleasure beach etc.
Respite holiday lodge for the family.

  • Mission statement

    The aim of The Charity is to ensure that all young carers and young adult carers in the Borough of Wigan, enjoy the same life chances as other young people.

    The main objectives of the charity will be:

    To promote and protect the physical and mental health of young carers and young adult carers resident in the Wigan Borough, through the provision of breaks, support, education and practical advice.
    To alleviate stresses placed on young carers, young adult carers, parent carers and their families.
    To contribute to the growth of self-esteem and personal development of young carers and young adult carers.
