Community Hertsmere has three main strands to our work. These include:
1. Being the Council for Voluntary Services (CVS)
2. Hosting the Volunteer Centre for Hertsmere
3. Undertaking a range of community engagement and community development work which help improve the quality of life for local people.

Our three-year strategic plan 2017-2020 includes the objectives of:
1. Building Dynamic Communities
2. Inspiring Volunteering
3. Empowering a Voice
4. Effective, Inclusive and Sustainable

  • Mission statement

To support, develop and represent voluntary and community action to deliver sustained benefits for Hertsmere and its diverse communities.

We are passionate about growing the sector and carrying on our small groups development work. We continue to provide representation and a voice for the voluntary and community sector at strategic forums such as Hertsmere’s Local Strategic Partnership.

We host Hertsmere Volunteer Centre. This is an important part of our service but receives no direct funding.

We are members of Volunteering Herts, a county-wide group of Accredited Volunteer Centres as well as working in partnership with #TeamHerts, a Hertfordshire County Council initiative.
We deliver the ‘6 Point Promise’ which is about providing a quality service and we support other volunteering organisations to achieve this.

We undertake a range of Community Engagement and Community Development work.

From the shop we provide a signposting service as well as coffee mornings, computer training and a NHS smoking cessation clinic as well as providing a variety of wellbeing and skills development opportunities for individuals and families. We do this in a number of ways, including informal drop in sessions and non-certification training for example confidence building.

We arrange a variety of affordable and accessible family activities (20 this year). These have included:
    • Trips to Bournemouth, Brighton and Southend
    • Christmas Markets in Winchester
    • An Arts and Craft Fair
