Friends of Eyethu Careers Point

Friends of Eyethu Careers Point (ECP) seeks to support Eyethu Careers Point, a charity registered in South Africa (NPO: 073-575).
ECP’s aim is to provide careers guidance and information to the young people of Cape Town’s townships, communities which are beset by drugs, gangs and crime cultures. ECP believes that, through such a provision, the young people will become more aware of their opportunities, and able to make decisions which will enable them to build more secure and rewarding futur

  • Mission statement

    Friends of Eyethu Careers Point’s mission is to improve the employability of the young people of Cape Town’s townships, thus alleviating, if not preventing poverty.
    It seeks to achieve this by providing support for Eyethu Careers Point in the following ways
    1. Provision of workshop materials;
    2. Training the Facilitators and volunteers so that they are able to deliver the workshops in the townships;
    3. Training of Eyethu Careers Point personnel, both employees and volunteers so that they are able to support clients when making career decision;
    4. Assisting in the research of the provision of on-the-job training/other training/Further & Higher Education as well as providing information as to sources of funding;
    5. Assisting in the research to provide information on the quality and skill requirements of the employers: local, provincial and national labour market information;
    6. Providing financial support until such a time as this is no longer necessary

  • Aims

    Friends of Eyethu Careers Point aims to:

    • To support Eyethu Careers Point through its Pilot stage, when it seeks to continue to provide the ACORN programme which has been amended to take into consideration the suggested improvements and feedb
    • Once the Pilot has demonstrated its effectiveness, Friends of ECP will support Eyethu Careers Point in its third stage which is to expand its provision into High Schools in other townships. Friends o
    • Both Eyethu Careers Point and Friends of ECP recognise that there is a need to provide careers guidance and information to the young unemployed of the townships, and this will be offered as soon as is
    • Because both organisations have recognised the costs involved, it was agreed that ECP should not have its own office until it could afford to do so. Each Facilitator is equipped so that they are able
