Although a national park, it remains vulnerable and is under constant threat. It is the most quarried national park in the UK, and its location between cities puts extra pressure on space, land and wildlife.     CPRE exists to promote the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of rural England by encouraging the sustainable use of land and other natural resources in town and country
    • We work locally to stand up for the countryside: to protect it from the threats it faces, and to shape its future for the better.
    • We campaign for a sustainable future for the English countryside, a vital but undervalued environmental, economic and social asset to the nation.
    • We highlight threats and promote positive solutions. Our in-depth research supports active campaigning, and we seek to influence public opinion and decision-makers at every level.
    • We seek to protect and enhance the quality of life of those who live and work in rural England.
    • We supports development within the countryside, but only where such development is appropriate and beneficial to the countryside and rural economy.
