US Charitable Trust
US Charitable Trust
For the last five years we have been working in the Harlesden/Willesden/ Stonebridge communities of Brent. We run a series of courses, events and trips designed to increase young peoples chances of employment and to build vital life skills. We offer chances for increased qualifications alongside practical help to gain work experience, training or employment. We also focus on mental health, and work alongside MH professionals to support the young people and to increase emotional literacy.
US provides life skills and motivation for inner city secondary school students filling the “cultural’ gap provided in private education but missing in state schools.
Acting as a springboard for them to achieve their life goals through confidence building, sense of well-being and pride, our mission is to facilitate their escape of the negative portrayal by media of their lives and situations.
US runs programs for secondary school students focusing on the learning of skills related to an individual course. Teaching problem solving, lateral thinking in todays conflicting world of mixed messages and confusion, acting as a parent as they come of age.
Concentrating on students’ well-being and promoting positive attitude we offer a cross-curricular approach to learning and a deeper immersion into a subject. This reflects a form of teaching which is prevalent in private schools but not necessary available in state schools.
We support them on their journey, to gain work, continue training, secure an apprenticeship or go on to further education.
US Charitable Trust aims to:
- To prepare young people for leaving school: secure employment, apprenticeship or pathway in to further education & the state of mind to reach their full potential.
- US teaches self reliance and problem solving which builds self confidence and empowerment.
- US nurtures individual responsibility to foster a more positive healthy community and broadens their horizons.
- US believes in strong ties to family, school and community to build stronger commitment to create a sense of belonging and self respect.
