Manta Trust researchers and volunteers work closely with tourists, local communities, businesses and governments to ensure the preservation of manta rays, their close relatives and the habitats on which they depend through good science, education, community based initiatives and government legislation.

    The Manta Trust takes a multidisciplinary approach to the worldwide conservation of manta rays and their habitat through robust science and research, while raising awareness and providing education to the general public and community stakeholders alike.

    The Manta Trust aims to:

    • Bring together projects from around the globe to conduct long-term, robust studies in manta and mobula rays.
    • Reduce global fishing pressure on manta and mobula rays.
    • Encourage responsible manta tourism that helps to support local communities and conservation work without negatively affecting marine life.
    • Use manta rays as a flagship species to promote and engage the general public in the wider message of marine ecosystem conservation.
