Powerhouse For Women

Powerhouse for Women is a women’s only charity based in Newham, East London which aims to empower women with learning disabilities in the borough. It was originally set up in 1995 as a refuge, and later it was registered with the Charity Commission and Companies House. Powerhouse provides a safe, welcoming and educational space and offers 1-1 support, group activities, training and outings.

    Powerhouse offers a ‘safe place’ for women with learning disabilities to meet, talk and make new friends. Our values and enduring ethos was created by women with learning disabilities when Powerhouse was established by them, back in 1995.
