  • Mission statement

The Basics Bank is part of a wide goal to see poverty removed from our communities. We see to be an intentionally-networked organisation that draws together church communities, groups and individuals under the banner of poverty reduction. The vision for the Basics Bank is that it will demonstrate the reality of the problem of poverty and fulfil the need for support, especially food. It will be a catalyst, and in pursuing this vision is committed to
    • Meeting people at times of physical, spiritual, emotional and social need, supplying food as our core service
    • Giving people the tools, opportunities and support to help them make their own way out of poverty through signposting and networking with other agencies
    • Networking church communities to fulfil our mandate to protect the widow, the orphan and the alien
    • Engaging Christians and the wider community in the fight against poverty
    • Influencing local policy makers and stakeholders and working in partnership with them

  • Aims

Stroud District Basics Bank aims to:

    • To enable local people who are struggling to financially to access food and toiletries. We do this through various drop-in centres where volunteers meet and chat with customers.
    • To ensure that we receive sufficient donations of food and money, so that we can always meet demand
    • To raise awareness locally of Foodbank. As well as letting potential customers know how to access the service, we must work to take down barriers and misunderstandings among the public.
