The Pembrokeshire Federation Of Young Farmers' Clubs

Seeking to meet the needs of rural young people the YFC provides a variety of educational, training and social programmes that encourage personal development, social interaction, community involvement and concern for the environment.
Pembrokeshire Young Farmers currently reach over 500 young people providing weekly meetings across the county. The very nature of the organisation is that young people have the opportunity to have fun, learn and achieve in an informal setting at their own pace.

Founded 1929

  • Mission statement

Operating within a climate of equality to all, the Pembrokeshire Federation of YFC prides itself on its truly bilingual nature, with all opportunities offered through both the mediums of English and Welsh.
The strength of the young farmers movement, and the reason we are here is to be different things to different young people. YFC was not set up to dictate what young people do and learn, but instead to foster confidence and personal development in an informal setting, where young people can learn through a variety of opportunities, that they enjoy and allow them to ‘shine’ as individuals. We often reach young people who are disengaged from formal learning or feel that they do not fit within a formal learning setting providing them with opportunities to develop practical and social skills that they feel are more relevant to their day to day life. Our aim is to engage and have a go and in doing so develop as socially confident young people with the skills to become active parts of their communities. Through the range of activities provided through the weekly club programmes and supported by the wealth of opportunities offered by the competitions programme we can support well rounded, well developed young people. Offering an unique opportunity to develop skills, work with their local communities, travel abroad, take part in a varied competitions programme and enjoy a dynamic social life is the key roles of the organisation.

  • Aims

The Pembrokeshire Federation Of Young Farmers' Clubs aims to:

    • We aim to provide young people aged between 10-26 the support to engage in a rich competitions and social programme that allows them to prosper as active members of their local communities
    • We aim to tackle rural isolation offering opportunities to socailise with other young people in their area whilst having fun, learning and achieving.
    • The other key attribute of YFC is that the members of clubs are the ones who run them. Democracy is key to ensure that members decide the future direction of the movement.
    • Local and National Charities benefit from charity work undertaken by YFC across the county. The work the members do range from volunteering to fundraising activities raising money for others.
