Citizens4change is a charity that was founded to assist street children in Kisumu, Kenya, Africa. Many children living in the slums need sustenance and education. The Life Centre School provides both, and the newly added nursery section allows working parents to make a contribution of fees to assist sustainability of the project. C4c encourages relatives of the orphaned children to provide primary care whilst the school provides education and therefore hope for many families.
Be the change you want to see in the world ( A quote by Ghandi).
Everyone is a citizen and has a responsibility to contribute to their community in some way whether in the UK or Africa-together we can bring about change for the good of all.
In the UK c4c own and run a coffee shop called Asante (which means 'Thank you' in Swahili). This shop works with a mixture of paid and volunteer workers allowing many people with needs, to develop confidence and grow in the safer work environment. The profit, in turn provides the basic salary and covers the cost of food for the Life Centre School in Kisumu.
One community that is wealthy in materialism is assisting
the other by working together bringing about change in the lives of many.
c4c is committed to getting the Life Centre school project self-sufficient in running but still raising money for the infrastructure of the buildings which assists the status of the school and attracts a mix of paying and subsidised pupils enabling the very poorest an opportunity for a better life.
C4c (Citizens4change) aims to:
- The overcrowded rented site in Tomboya, Kisumu needs better sanitation. The children all need lockable desks and resources e.g. computers, text books etc.
- Some displaced Primary graduates from poorer families, who cannot afford the high school costs, need a building off site to continue their studies. c4c have committed to the primary as their priority
