Spectrum People

Wakefield based charity that provides meaningful activities for some of the most vulnerable people in the community. It aims through these activities to promote greater confidence, self-esteem, understanding & skills to help people gain control & start to make good decisions about their health & wellbeing, often preventing, or returning them from, social exclusion. Vulnerabilities include mental/physical health issues, addiction issues, offending behaviours, homelessness, social isolation.

  • Mission statement

    To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people … who are socially excluded to relive the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society.
    We work with people who may be excluded from society or parts of society as a result of one or more factors including: unemployment, financial hardship, substance abuse or dependency, homelessness, disability, previous criminal convictions or generally due to their personal, social and/or economic position.

  • Aims

    Spectrum People aims to:

    • Providing training, education and information to support and enable such persons to maximise well-being, education, employment and volunteering opportunities
    • Providing workshops, forums, training and general support
    • Providing recreational activities and opportunities for such people
    • Raising public awareness of the issues facing such people, both generally and in relation to their social exclusion
