Better Understanding of Dementia for Sandwell

BUDS provides care, social contact and stimulating activities at activity sessions in the Borough of Sandwell. Activities include simple games, reminiscing, music, poetry, use of iPads (remarkably popular! ) etc.

Transport is provided for clients. We also has a volunteer led befriending scheme for clients and carers. The service provides carers the opportunity of an occasional break.

    BUDS aims to improve the quality of life of people experiencing dementia by slowing the progress of Dementia, reducing social isolation and improving wellbeing

  • Aims

    Better Understanding of Dementia for Sandwell aims to:

    • Support for the weekly activity sessions for people diagnosed with Dementia. The provision of mentally and physically stimulating activities in a friendly environment and also a healthy cooked meal.
    • Befriending service for the family/carers of people diagnosed with Dementia. Someone they can turn to for advice and friendship, to provide occasional help with care or a brief respite in the home.
