Medicinema

MediCinema improves the difficult reality of being in hospital by building, installing and running cinemas in healthcare centres. Our MediCinemas are custom-built using the latest technology so they look and feel just like a mainstream cinema, except we are able to welcome patients in wheelchairs, attached to drips and even those unable to leave their hospital bed. We engage two nurses for every screening to ensure all our patients are safe, and almost all the films we show are current releases.

Founded 1996

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of patients, their families and carers through the magic of the shared cinema experience.

We do this by building and running high specification cinemas in hospitals, bringing the magic of the silver screen to patients young and old to help people feel better with film.

  • Aims

    Medicinema aims to:

    • To give patients, their families and carers a sense of normality.
    • To reduce the boredom and isolation experienced by patients by giving them something fun to do with their families and the chance to meet other patients.
    • To relieve the stress and anxiety experienced by patients, their families and carers.
    • To bring patients closer together with each other and their families.
