Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) carries out research and advocacy in order to reduce the incidence and impact of global armed violence. We focus on the impact on civilians from small arms and explosive violence. And use our research into this harm to lobby governments to ensure that victims needs are met, harm is avoided and the drivers of violence are understood.

Mission statement
Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) seeks to highlight and to reduce the impact of armed violence on civilians. We do this through targeted advocacy backed up by rigorous qualitative and quantitative research.

Aims
Action On Armed Violence aims to:
- One of the central pillars of our work is our Global Explosive Violence Monitor, as well as the specific research we carry out on manufactured weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and guns.
- AOAV tries to lobby governments and non-state actors through rigorous research and data, to curb the excessive use of force.
