Currently we run two established projects:

SCM Basics Bank - emergency food and clothes provision to those experiencing hardship in Southampton via 5 food banks and 1 clothing bank

SCM Schools Work - supporting schools to deliver the Christian elements of the RE curriculum through "Question of Faith" RE days, Prayer Spaces & Collective Worship; working in 40+ schools annually

A new project following a successful pilot:
Workplace Chaplaincy - listening, signposting & improving staff wellbeing

  • Mission statement

    Southampton City Mission seeks opportunities for the Church to serve the City by:
    • identifying areas of need in the city, especially those not currently being met;
    • working with all churches to co-ordinate and facilitate Christian acts of mission and mercy that will meet those needs; and
    • educating, equipping and inspiring churches, their members and other organisations to support these areas of work.

  • Aims

    Southampton City Mission (CIO) aims to:

    • To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with the basic tenets of historical Biblical Christianity.
    • To prevent & relieve poverty in Southampton & its neighbouring area by providing items & services to individuals in need and/or charities or other organisations working to prevent & relieve poverty.
    • To advance education for persons of any age by providing or assisting in the development of their mental, physical and moral capabilities through work in schools and other educational institutions.
