A Partner In Education

APIE operates in Rwanda, working to develop and implement an effective and replicable 'bottom-up' model of teacher training. Rather than sending experts out to schools, we facilitate the professional development of teachers at our pilot teaching and learning hub – Umubano Primary School – in support of the Government’s aims and the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education and Inclusion, equipping educators with the knowledge and skills to not only exemplify, but share best practice.

Founded 2009

  • Mission statement

APIE’s vision is a world where all children, regardless of background and circumstance, have the opportunity to receive high quality education.

Our mission is to transform the learning experiences of children in Rwanda through the delivery of sustainable, locally-led programmes of teacher training, enabling educators to prepare students with life-long skills - to think critically, solve problems, work cooperatively, and apply learnt knowledge - so that they will be able to fully participate in shaping the development of their communities, and contribute to the development and maintenance of peace, progress and prosperity in Rwanda.

  • Aims

A Partner In Education aims to:

    • Raise standards of education through developing best practice in the Rwandan context.
    • Support the development of self-sufficient, high standard teaching and learning hubs in Rwanda.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of peace, stability and prosperity in Rwanda through the development of a replicable model of Education for Peace.
