We are currently focussed on the Inspiring Art and Music campaign, a £30m project to completely reimagine Aberdeen Art Gallery, Cowdray hall and the Remembrance Hall, creating a world class cultural hub in Aberdeen City Centre.

This is a once in a generation redevelopment project, creating an exciting new space showcasing the best art and music that Aberdeen has to offer.

  • Mission statement

    The Inspiring Art and Music Campaign will:
    • Restore and modernise the gallery building, making it easier to navigate and enjoy.
    • Create two new dedicated learning suites for schools and lifelong learners.
    • Transform the Cowdray Hall, retaining its unique acoustic while improving the experience for performers and audiences alike.
    • Increase from 11 to 21 the number of gallery spaces, better showcasing the breadth of Aberdeen’s unique collection.
    • Sensitively renovate the Remembrance Hall.
    • Establish a new, special exhibitions gallery to attract the very best visiting exhibitions from around the world.
    • Upgrade our aging facilities to become a 5 star visitor attraction.
    • See us welcoming 250,000 visitors each year.

    The Revitalised Gallery will be:
    • More welcoming, easier to navigate and more fun to visit.
    • A place to actively celebrate exceptional art and music.
    • A visually exciting building with improved visitor orientation.
    • At the centre of Aberdeen‘s cultural life, integrating art and music for future generations.
    • A place that reflects and highlights the quality of our collections.
