  • Mission statement

    FORWARD is an African Diaspora women’s campaign and support charity that was set up in 1985. We work to end harmful practices particularly female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage and safeguard the sexual and reproductive health of vulnerable African girls and women in the UK and in Africa.

    Our vision is that women and girls live in dignity, are healthy and have choices and equal opportunities to fulfil their potential. Our mission is to safegaurd rights and dignity through:

    -Public education
    -Policy advocacy
    -Programme support
    -Provision of resources and evidence
    -Promoting empowerment and voice

  • Aims

    FORWARD UK aims to:

    • Ending gender based violence including female genital mutilation, and child marriage and related health rights violations affecting girls and women
    • improving capacity and suatianbility of partner organisations
    • Strengthening voices of African Diaspora women in policy processes and development
    • Increasing access for at risk women and girls to specialist support services, skills and livelihood opportunities
