The Big House Theatre Company

The Big House transforms young lives through the power of performance. Through an innovative programme of drama participation, life and employment skills development, counselling and long term support we help socially excluded care leavers and at risk young people to overcome emotional barriers, become job ready and lead independent, fulfilling lives.

Founded 2013

  • Mission statement

The Big House has a simple mission: To enable care leavers and at risk young people to fulfil their potential.

  • Aims

The Big House Theatre Company aims to:

    • Build a supportive and empathic community that reduces isolation and loneliness amongst care leavers and at risk young people.
    • Permanently break the destructive behavioural cycles that lead so many vulnerable and marginalised young people down negative life paths.
    • Increase the confidence and emotional well-being of care leavers and at risk young people; empowering and equipping them with the skills to sustain employment, education and training
    • Through the power of performance give young people a platform to tell their stories and aim to increase public awareness of issues relating to leaving care.
