Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT)

FACT is here for the benefit of anyone touched by cancer. Cancer can be a devastating illness so FACT help people cope, practically & emotionally. We take pride in providing services people ask for. Sessions include a range of weekly social groups, crafts, nutrition & exercise sessions. We specialise in child & family bereavement support, mastectomy clinics, wig styling & advice & feel good pamper sessions. We offer over 2,000 sessions to the 15,000+ people in the region diagnosed with cancer.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

    • FACT began in 2008 from a small office in Team Valley, Gateshead by a mother recovering from breast cancer, whose struggle to find the support she and her family needed after her treatment highlighted the extreme difficulties in accessing these services in all-encompassing ways, has now grown into a regional charity operating from a dedicated Cancer Support Centre in Swalwell. FACT is currently the only local cancer organisation offering support in its own comfortable, private and non-clinical premises away from hospital grounds.

    • FACT provide direct help, support and social opportunities for people going through the cancer journey, their families and friends. With experienced staff and volunteers on hand, FACT is ambitious to help more people in the North East come to terms with their cancer journey. FACT's programme has expanded following a move to new premises in June 2016 and this has generated increased attendance at our regular group sessions which aim to allow interaction with and support from other cancer sufferers.

    • FACT provides cancer education and awareness programmes, and aims to source, promote and form relationships between support services, organisations and charities available to cancer patients.
